Emailed News letter?

I wanted to thank everyone for providing such a wonderful library. I enjoy the selections and the ease of use of the website. One thing I was thinking about, I know the regular mailings we get on Library events cost money and that is why they have scaled back. If it is a cost thing, I really don't need that info in the mail and would love to just have it emailed to me and I'm sure there are many others like me. I'm sure there are still some people in the area that need the info on paper but would it be cost effective to give residence the option of "opting out" of mailed updates in favor of emailed ones?

Thanks for your comments about the library. We are glad you enjoy visiting and using the website. You are correct that we have scaled back on the newsletter. Unfortunately, since we mail the approximately 36,500 copies of the newsletter as a bulk rate, carrier sort item to get the lowest postage rate, there is no way to opt out of receiving it.

We will be transitioning from our printed version to an email newsletter to save the expense of printing and postage. Over the summer and into the fall, you may opt to receive an email newsletter from us, and beginning with the January 2011 issue, the newsletter will be exclusively email. We hope you enjoy the email version and look forward to your comments.
