I see you have a community bulletin board outside of the bathrooms. Is there a policy as to what/how things are posted there?
I have an old book that I really like, but the spine is starting to get loose. Does the Canton Public Library offer book repair services?
Hello! I'm an LIS student at Wayne State, and I hope you can answer a few questions for me regarding technology planning in your library. Here are my instructions:
Communicate with an IT professional at a library of your choice and ask some questions about technology plan. Do they have one? How often is it updated? How is it updated (IT dept, committee, etc). If they don't have one, why? How do they decide what technology is to be included, budgeted for, etc. Who knows about the plan--only IT?
Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
With sincere thanks,
For some reason, I am not able to log into National Heritage Academies' website (www.nhaschools.com). When I have tried this (in order to check my son's homework assignments or see teacher newsletters), I get a message that the website is blocked due to "Malicious Web Reputation".
It does not seem right to me that a public school's website would be blocked at all, let alone for the stated reason. Can you please adjust your filters to permit access to this website?
Thanks for your consideration,
This morning I observed a table to be used to register voters with Obama campaign signs. Is campaigning allowed on library property? If so, is written permission needed? If permission is needed, who grants the approval or refusal? What are the guidelings for allowing or refusing requests?
Personally, I feel it is inappropriate for the library to be involved in any way with direct or indirect support for particular candidates. Allowing Obama support signs as part of voter registration certainly indicates library support for the andidate.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated response and/or action.
I'm at Ann Arbor but would like access to your online library material, what must I do? I do have an Ann Arbor library account.
This is a highly acclaimed award winning musical adapted from the Broadway play of the same name. I think that this film has musical, dramatic, historical and cultural value for a diverse audience (all ages, religions, and ethnic groups). It is a highly educational film, made in 1971. It would be a wonderful addition to your DVD collection.
1. Why are patrons allowed to have food & drink near computers?
2. When will keyboards with letters rubbed off going to be replaced?
3. Why does Canton use an out of state collection agency for past fines? Keep business in MI!!
4. Liked your recipe rack!
I have several new paperbacks and two hardbacks. Would
you accept these as donations?
Do yo need to be a resident of Canton to be able to get a Library Card? I live in Van Buren Twp/Belleville. Thanks!
Hello. Don't like to complain, but I was close to being run over on the pedestrian walkway (yellow diagonal lines) by a female staff member. Incident occurred about 12:30P.M., Thursday, 7_26_2012. The lady had black hair with an olive complexion. She was driving a compact goldtone vehicle. This incident occurred on the north-south drive leading directly to the employee parking area. Apparently she was going on duty at this time. If she does this to me again I may video record it and call the police. Please have your staff observe traffic rules re. pedestrians in the parking lot.
Oh, there was at least one witness who politely yielded at the exact spot going in the southern direction.
Please don't bother responding as I don't have time to read them.
Thank you for your time and kind consideration.
I've been itching to watch the movie "Sybil," and saw you had it in the Canton Library but I couldn't find it, so I asked if they could and it took awhile but they wouldn't stop until it was located. Which was awesome. I loved the service! Thank you! :)
To Whom It May Concern:
I went to the library today to check on signing out museum passes, and was told it has to be done "on-line." I have not been able to locate the necessary site "on-line" site. Please direct me.
I ran Evanovich as an author search anf then sorted by newest. I did not get a cite for "Notorious Nineteen" which will be released later. However, when I ran "Notorious Nineteen" by title, I get two cites for a large print book and another for a different media. Curious as to why it does not show up on an author search.
Apologies if this comment is unrelated. Had an inexplicable incident with the Reference Desk this Saturday, 7/22/2012 ~11AM. Requested assistance from one of the Reference Librarians regarding a "Script Error" message I obtained on TWO of the CPL Web computers - which caused the computers to stop or slow down to the point of being unresponsive. The librarian told me (in essence) it was not of their/your responsibility. She told me that the computer was going to continue to be unresponsive.
When the creative writing class let out (about 11:30AM) I was able to log on to Lab 06 terminal. I tried to re-create the "Script Error" message I obtained on the two Web computers using the same computer program. I was unable to create the error and the Lab 06 terminal appears to be running normally.
Sorry to report this, but why was there bit of confusion involved with the Reference librarian? I do not think I was the cause nor at fault.
Thank you for time and kind consideration.
I would like to get on the list of books that you hold for someone
I am not very good on computers so dont know how to go about it
any help will be greatly appreciated
where on your website does it inform library card holders of passes to use to visit musuems?
A friend told me about a music service offered though his library in Rochester Hills called Freegal. This service allows him to download up to 3 songs per week (or something like that). I was wondering if Canton is looking into subscribing to this service.
Please tell me the steps to request renewing books online.
What do I click on etc.
The library should have a rack where patrons can leave magazines that other patrons can take away, in other words donated magazines that others can find and take if they like. Other libraries in the West do this, in Montana, Utah, etc.
