Paranormalcy

Parnormalcy stands out from the rest of the paranormal romance books out there in that it's got something of an attitude. Yes, romance junkies, you can be sure there's plenty there to make your heart 'a flutter', but it's the tongue in cheek humor — a la Buffy the Vampire Slayer — and the very likable, kick-butt heroine, with her pink taser and sarcastic commentary, that makes this worth reading. This book isn't afraid to poke fun at itself while at the same time dishing out top notch suspense. Definitely worth checking out.

St. Patrick's Day

March 17th is just around the corner, my friends; and if you haven't had the chance to chase a rainbow, find a pot of gold, hang out with a leprechaun, or grow a garden of four leaf clovers, you can still read about them in our fun St. Patrick's Day themed books. If you're feeling lucky, try being crafty and make your own clovers or leprechauns out of paper, cardboard, or cookies. After all, a nice warm sugar cookie clover decorated with fine green sprinkles is always a winner! Enjoy the day! May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Homegrown Harvest

Homegrown harvest: a season-by-season guide to a sustainable kitchen garden by Rita Pelczar, editor in chief — The idea of having a kitchen garden sounds so romantic, but is it really doable? It is! This book will take you through the entire year, from planning to harvest and on. It also contains a wealth of information about particular vegetables, fruits, and herbs that you might grow in your garden. The glorious full-color photographs make this book a treat just to look through, but you'll definitely want to start a garden once you do.

Backyard Birdsong

I now can identify certain birds by song thanks to this book. The Backyard Birdsong Guide: A Guide to Listening by Donald Kroodsma is a real treat — especially as Spring approaches. Look up a variety of birds located in Eastern and Central North America and you will find a photo of the bird, a brief description, information about their habitat, as well as information about their singing. But what is really nifty is that you can then punch in the number located next to the bird in the sound device located in the book and listen to the bird singing!

Chicken Big

It's not a squirrel, it's not an umbrella, it's Chicken Big! In this hilarious tale of a very large creature, we get to use our investigation skills to discover exactly what this very large, yellow creature is. Is it a sweater, or an elephant? You'll have to read it to find out!

We have many other chicken adventures to choose from, maybe even a Chicken Little!

Practical Bamboos

Practical bamboos: the 50 best plants for screens, containers and more by Paul Whittaker — Bamboo seems like such an exotic plant to grow here in suburbia, but there are actually some varieties that would be quite happy here. And not all bamboos are invasive, either! This book covers just about everything you could hope to know about bamboos.
