Ms Carissa Rocks!

Carissa Knoles has been strumming to the beat of her own guitar since the young age of 14. When a guitar playing crush said, “girls don’t really play guitar,” she went out and bought one the very next day and has been rocking happily ever after! Since graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Children and Families from the University of Michigan in May 2010, Carissa has combined her knack for music and her passion for Early Childhood into the Music with Ms. Carissa program. Carissa has written her own original songs for the imaginative minds of the young and the young at heart. Join us in welcoming Ms. Carissa on July 30 from 10:00-11:00 AM. Although Ms Carissa generally plays to the 5 and under crowd, all ages are welcome to rock out!

Author Luis Carlos Montalvan

Captain Luis Montalvan returned home from his second tour of duty in Iraq, having survived stab wounds, a traumatic brain injury, and three broken vertebrae. But the pressures of civilian life and his injuries proved too much to bear. Physical disabilities, agoraphobia, and crippling PTSD drove him to the edge of suicide. That's when he met Tuesday - his best friend forever. Tuesday came with his own history of challenges: from the Puppies Behind Bars program, to a home for troubled boys, to the streets of Manhattan, Tuesday blessed many lives on his way to Luis. Until Tuesday unforgettably twines the story of man and dog. Come to the library on Wednesday, June 5 from 6:30-8:30 PM to hear Captain Montalvan tell his story of finding his best friend and partner in life, his dog Tuesday. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the program.

Copper Tom: Music, Comedy and Storytelling

Copper Tom incorporates cool, sometimes arcane, rhythms into accessible songs.  He draws inspiration from American roots music, including old time country, blues and roots rock and roll.  He might even throw in a little New Orleans funk, Trinidadian calypso, reggae and some fun tales to boot.  Join us on Wednesday, July 25 from 7:00-8:00 PM as we sing and dance to Copper Tom's eclectic music.
