However, the popular phrase will be highlighted as local homebrewer, George Hotelling, shares his brewing expertise and shows us how to brew up a batch of his finest beer. The 2012 Summer Olympics are being held in London beginning July 27 and concluding on August 12. Officially known as the Games of the XXX Olympiad, the games will comprise 32 sports and 302 events. Locally, you can catch all of the exciting coverage on NBC.

Love your library? Here's a way to show it. LEGO Duplo and the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) have joined together to support local libraries. Please go to the Read! Play! Build! project and nominate Canton Public Library. The most nominated library receives $5,000 for books and supplies. The top 200 libraries recieve a special LEGO Duplo toolkit that would be used in our early literacy area. You can nominate once per day, so vote often! Nominations close October 1st, 2012.

Canton native Allison Schmitt will compete in four swimming events at the Summer Olympics in London. Considered one of the best middle distance swimmers in the country, Schmitt is a member of Team USA for the second time. She won a bronze in the 800m freestyle relay in Beijing in 2008. Allison will begin competiton on Saturday July 28th and continue everyday until Wednesday if she makes the finals in each of her events; 200m and 400m freestyle and the 400m and 800m freestyle relays. Tune in to cheer her on and claim your Game On Badge!

As part of our Connect Your Summer Program join us Saturday July 28th and earn the Be Well Badge by walking around the lake at Heritage Park. Meet at the "clock" adjacent to the library at noon with friends or family. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, sunscreen, etc. We'll do three laps around the lake, more that a mile, which should take about 30 minutes! This is the last walking date for the Connect Your Summer Program but keep on trekking...
