Computer Classes

  • Current Canton Library cardholders 18 years and above are eligible to register for classes
  • Go to Program Calendar to sign up for classes. An online tutorial is available to help guide you through the process
  • Registration for class starts two weeks in advance of program date. Register online only
  • Have your Canton Library card number ready when you log on to the computer to register
  • You can use your Patron Record to review programs you are registered or waitlisted for and to cancel a registration. Please cancel registration at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $5 fee
  • All classes are free to Canton Library cardholders

Savvy Seniors Computer Basics

Do computers confound you? We can help! 
Become a certified Computer-Savvy Senior with this 3-part introduction to the world of computers and technology. We'll talk about what a computer is and how it works, and how to tell it to do what you want. We'll start with the very basics, such as turning it on and using the mouse, and work our way up through basic word processing and into the wide world of the Internet. No experience required! 

This 3-class series will be held on Wednesdays from 12-2pm from April 17th to May 1st. in the I-Lab. Patrons must attend all 3 classes. Registration is required.

Beginning Excel 2007

Learn to create a spreadsheet and manage a list with Microsoft Excel 2007. Prerequisite: Mouse and keyboarding skills.

Join us Friday, March 15 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.

Intermediate Excel 2007

A more advanced Excel class, great for work or school projects.  Learn custom sorting and conditional formatting to make sense of your data. Create eye-catching tables, charts and graphs. Prerequisite:  Beginning Excel 2007 or previous experience with Excel.

PowerPoint Basics

Learn to create multimedia presentations or slideshows.
Prerequisites: Mouse and Word skills. Join us on Saturday, February 16th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM in the Internet Lab.

Intermediate Word 2007

Learn about advanced formatting options useful in creating larger documents, including headers and footers, page numbers and footnotes. Prerequisite: Beginning Word 2007 or previous experience with Word. Join us Tuesday, February 19th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.

Beginning Excel 2007

Introduction to Pinterest

Pinterest lets you create and share virtual "boards" full of inspiration and ideas about your passions and hobbies. Through images and links posted by other users (or by you), you can plan a wedding, collect recipes, share crafting know-how and more with your friends online! Join us on Saturday, February 2nd at 3:00 PM to learn more about this fun website and start pinning.

Prerequisites: Basic Internet skills and either an email address or a Facebook or Twitter account (required for participation-attendees without these accounts will still be able to observe).

Internet Basics

Learn how to search the Web, the library catalog and online databases. Prerequisite: Mouse skills or equivalent experience. Join us Monday, February 11th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.

How to download library eBooks on your Kindle

The Canton Public Library offers current bestsellers as well as older fiction and non-fiction titles in the Kindle format.  Join us to find out how to borrow these free eBooks from the library and read them on your Kindle, or Kindle apps.  Remember to bring your Amazon account information (account email and password) if you wish to try to download a title during or after class.
