Computer Classes

  • Current Canton Library cardholders 18 years and above are eligible to register for classes
  • Go to Program Calendar to sign up for classes. An online tutorial is available to help guide you through the process
  • Registration for class starts two weeks in advance of program date. Register online only
  • Have your Canton Library card number ready when you log on to the computer to register
  • You can use your Patron Record to review programs you are registered or waitlisted for and to cancel a registration. Please cancel registration at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $5 fee
  • All classes are free to Canton Library cardholders

Computer Basics - CANCELLED

Do computers confound you? We can help! Get an introduction to the world of computers and technology in our Computer Basics class. We'll talk about what a computer is and how it works, and how to tell it to do what you want. Learn the very basics, such as turning it on and using the mouse, and prepare for more advanced uses. No experience required! Join us Friday, March 14 from 10:00-11:30 AM.

Intermediate Excel 2010

A more advanced Excel class, great for work or school projects. Learn custom sorting and conditional formatting to make sense of your data. Create eye-catching tables, charts and graphs. Prerequisite: Beginning Excel or previous experience with Excel. Join us Thursday, March 20 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

eReader User Group

Are you a brand new eReader owner, or an old pro? Whatever your level of experience, we invite you to join library staff and other eReader users as we share eBook tips and tricks in an informal environment. Group will meet Thursday, February 27th from 7:00-8:00 PM in Group Study Room A.

eBook Basics

Learn the basics of how to check out library eBooks and read them on your Kindle, Nook, iPad or other device. Watch a live demo and try a few of the eReaders on the market today. Join us Friday, February 21st from 10:00-11:30 AM.

Holiday Greetings with MS Publisher

Looking for an easy but affordable way to send out those holiday greetings? Learn how MS Publisher can help you make and print out personalized holiday cards and letters. We'll also talk about how you can use the Mail Merge function to print out personally addressed envelopes. Prerequisite: Some experience with MS Word and Excel. Join us in the I-Lab on Saturday, November 9 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. Registration required.

Computer Basics for Seniors

Do computers confound you? We can help!
Get a personalized introduction to the world of computers and technology. We'll talk about what a computer is and how it works, and how to tell it to do what you want. We'll start with the very basics, such as turning it on and using the mouse, and prepare you for more advanced uses such as word processing and Internet browsing. No experience required!

Registration is required! There are limited appointments available from 1-3pm on August 19th - August 21st in the I-Lab. To register, please visit the Canton Leisure Services Seniors Program, located in the Parkview Room of Summit on the Park or call 734-394-5485.

Zinio Digital Magazines Basics

Find out how to sign up to access the new issues of close to 200 digital magazines that you can read cover to cover on your computer or on your mobile device through the app. The class is designed to walk you through the process of opening your accounts and answer questions. You must have a CPL library card and a valid email address to open an account.
