Computer Classes

  • Current Canton Library cardholders 18 years and above are eligible to register for classes
  • Go to Program Calendar to sign up for classes. An online tutorial is available to help guide you through the process
  • Registration for class starts two weeks in advance of program date. Register online only
  • Have your Canton Library card number ready when you log on to the computer to register
  • You can use your Patron Record to review programs you are registered or waitlisted for and to cancel a registration. Please cancel registration at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $5 fee
  • All classes are free to Canton Library cardholders

Frozen characters and Angry Birds encourage kids to learn coding!

Frozen on CODE.orgFrozen's Anna and Elsa lend a hand in teaching children how to code! Join CODE.org in allowing every student the opportunity to learn about computer science and coding.
 

Angry birds is also an option for older kids or adults.



There is an initiative to complete one hour of free coding lessons in order to raise the level of somputer science fluency for kids. There is a push to teach computer science in the classroom to ensure that children are getting the best chance possible to succeed. Please visit CODE.org to sign up and try a lesson today!

Weekly eBook Drop-In Help

Have you hit a snag with your ereader?  Patrons in need of one-on-one assistance can come in on Fridays from 10:00-11:00 AM to receive basic or extended help with borrowing or downloading books to your electronic device.  No registration required

Intermediate Word 2010

Learn more about advanced formatting options useful in creating larger documents, including headers and footers, page numbers and footnotes. Prerequisite: Beginning Word 2010 or previous experience with Word. Join us Monday, November 3rd 6:30-8:00PM.

Computer Skills Lab for Beginners

If you or someone you know needs assistance with basic computer skills, including Internet use and setting up an email account, please stop in to CPL's iLab between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 15th for our drop-in skills lab. We will have guided activities for practice with mouse skills, copying/pasting, and more.  A librarian will be on hand to answer any questions you may have or direct you to activities and tutorials to help build basic computer skills.

*This lab is restricted to basic computer skills, as listed above. Staff will not be able to assist with the diagnosis or repair of computer equipment, or with online financial transactions.

Prerequisite: Beginning Excel or previous experience with Excel. Join us Thursday, November 20th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

PowerPoint Basics

Learn to create multimedia presentations or slideshows. Prerequisites: Mouse and Word skills. Join us on Saturday November 22 at 1:00 PM in the Internet Lab.

Beginning Excel 2010

Learn to create a spreadsheet and manage a list  
with Microsoft Excel 2010.

Registration required. Prerequisite: Mouse and keyboarding skills.
