Computer Classes

  • Current Canton Library cardholders 18 years and above are eligible to register for classes
  • Go to Program Calendar to sign up for classes. An online tutorial is available to help guide you through the process
  • Registration for class starts two weeks in advance of program date. Register online only
  • Have your Canton Library card number ready when you log on to the computer to register
  • You can use your Patron Record to review programs you are registered or waitlisted for and to cancel a registration. Please cancel registration at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $5 fee
  • All classes are free to Canton Library cardholders

Digital Photo Project Session -CANCELED-

Do you have photos you’d like to share with friends and family? Want to turn some of your best pics into a creative project like customized note cards or a photo book? Whatever your skill level, join us Wednesday June 25, 6:30-8:00 PM in the Internet Lab for this hands-on help and work session. A library staff member will be on hand to offer help, advice and tips, including scanning prints and snapshots, creating a photo book, making customized photo gifts, editing and cleaning up digital images, posting pictures to social media sites or blogs, and transferring pictures from your phone or digital camera to a computer and more. Registration required.

NOTE: Support will be available only for photo editing applications installed on the library's public computers (such as MS Office, Paint and Paint.net, but NOT Photoshop or Photoshop Elements) or programs and services accessible from the internet. Come prepared to start or continue your own digital photo project. If you’re starting with printed snapshots, bring them with you. If you have digital photos, bring them on a portable device such as a USB drive or a camera memory card (such as an SD card).

A more advanced Excel class, great for work or school projects. Learn custom sorting and conditional formatting to make sense of your data. Create eye-catching tables, charts and graphs. Prerequisite: Beginning Excel or previous experience with Excel. Join us Friday, May 30 from 10:00 to 11:30 PM.

Intermediate Word 2010

Learn more about advanced formatting options useful in creating larger documents, including headers and footers, page numbers and footnotes. Prerequisite:  Beginning Word 2010 or previous experience with Word.  Join us Saturday, May 24 from 10:00-11:30 AM.

Familiarity with your own device is paramount to the success of the class. Please make sure your device is registered, and that your Canton Library card is valid.

We'll talk about what a computer is and how it works, and how to tell it to do what you want. Learn the very basics, such as turning it on and using the mouse, and prepare for more advanced uses.
