Gilead by Marilynne Robinson — In 1956, toward the end of Reverend John Ames's life, he begins a letter to his young son, an account of himself and his forebears, a pacifist father and an ardent abolitionist, his grandfather.

Canton Seniors Book Discussion group will meet on Wednesday, January 25 from 2:00-3:00 PM in CPL Group Study Room A. This month we are reading:
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón — Eleven year old Daniel’s quest through the secrets and shadows of postwar Barcelona for a mysterious author whose book has proved as dangerous to own as it is impossible to forget. He discovers that someone has been systematically destroying every copy of every book this author has written.

Water for Elephants: a novel by Sara Gruen — Surprising, poignant, and funny, Water for Elephants is that rare novel with a story so engrossing, one is reluctant to put it down; with characters so engaging, they continue to live long after the last page has been turned; with a world built of wonder, a world so real, one starts to breathe its air.

Canton Seniors Book Discussion: June 22, 2011
Canton Seniors Book Discussion group will meet on Wednesday, June 22 from 2:00-3:00PM in Canton Public Library's Group Study Room A. We'll be discussing Sarah Blake's The Postmistress: It is 1941 and America has not yet entered the war waging in Europe, but they listen avidly to radio broadcasts sent from London. In The Postmistress two women find themselves unable to deliver the news, and a third woman desperately waiting for news of the War in Europe yet afraid to hear it. Sarah Blake's The Postmistress shows how we bear the fact that war goes on around us while ordinary lives continue.

The Canton Seniors Book Discussion Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Canton Public Library in Group Study Room A. We meet from 2:00-3:00PM, September through June in the library's Group Study Room A. Summit Book Discussion Meets at the Library Starting November 17th
Starting November 17th, the Canton Seniors Book Discussion Group will meet at the Canton Public Library in Group Study Room A. This is the group that formerly met at the Summit Recreation Facility. The title for November is The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, which is a novel about Dinah of the Bible and the time in which she lived.
