Adult Programs at the Library

The Canton Public Library offers a variety of adult programs during the year. Most programs are free, but require advanced registration. For the adult programs listed below, you can either register in person or by calling 734-397-0999 starting one week before the program date unless otherwise noted. May-June Schedule



May 1 (7:00)   Learn About Space Travel (Learn to... With Friends)

  In the 50 years since Sputnik launched, space travel has advanced light years. David Haslam guides you through the history of space flight, examining manned and unmanned missions, triumphs and tragedies.
May 19 (10:00-2:00)   Behind Barbed Wire: Midwest POWs in Nazi Germany (Friends, Authors & Others)
  This traveling museum, sponsored by the Canton Veterans in partnership with the Friends of the Library, explores the experiences of Midwest prisoners of war during Hitler’s Third Reich. After touring this exhibit, located by the clock tower behind the library, stop in at the library’s Community Room for a reception and special book sale. No admission charge; groups welcome.
May 22 (7:00)   Celebrate Area Authors (Friends, Authors & Others)
  Our community is home to many talented writers. Meet published writers and have a chance to hear their stories and read their words as we celebrate their success. Books available for purchase and signing.
May 28, June 19, July 15, August 4 (7:00)   Knit Nights With Anne (Friends, Authors & Others)
  Drop in to knit, crochet or enjoy other arts with crafters of all ages and levels.
June 5 (7:00)   Learn to Appreciate Jazz (Learn to... With Friends)
  The Paul VornHagen Trio presents the American Songbook of Jazz Standards with composers such as Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Gershwin and Rodgers and Hart. Paul performs on sax, flute and vocals accompanied by keyboard and acoustic bass. CDs available for sale.
