Borrowing Audio-Visual Media

DVDs/CD-ROMs/Audiotape/Videotape/CDs

  • There is no charge to borrow media unless they are kept beyond the due date, when a $1-per-day late fee is assessed for videos, DVDs, and CD-ROMs and $.20 (or $.10 for children's) for other A-V media
  • The library is not responsible for damage to borrowers' equipment
  • For CD-ROMs, be aware that some products automatically load software or alter existing software. Consider backing up your system and other files before using these products. Also, copyright laws require that library software be deleted from your hard drive before you return the package to the library
  • The full replacement cost of the CD-ROM will be charged if the disc, or any of the accompanying contents, is damaged or lost
  • Because the library has no restrictions based on ratings of motion pictures, parents are urged to monitor their children's borrowing

Restriction for Belleville Residents

Our reciprocal borrowing agreement with neighboring libraries allows a library to institute borrowing limits when checkout from another library's patrons exceeds 10% of our total checkouts.  Residents of Belleville, Sumpter, and Van Buren--who are cardholders of the Fred C. Fischer Public Library--are therefore limited to two items per person.  Our Library Board authorized this restriction in 2007.
