International Game Day

All ages can join us on July 26th at 1:00PM as we enjoy learning about different cultures through games played around the world. You could even earn your Multicultural badge! No registration required. Weather permitting, this program will take place outside.

Fruit Fun

Children, ages 5-9, with caregiver, are welcome to this program filled with fabulous fruit-filled tales. Register online beginning June 16.

Pokemon Tournament

Join us Saturday, July 23 between 1:00 and 5:00PM for our Pokemon Tournament. Bring your Nintendo DS and your copy of Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, or SoulSilver for a tournament-style poke-throwdown! No registration required.

Puppet Show and Craft @ Your Library

On Tuesday, August 2, from 10:00-10:45AM, Children, ages 2 to not yet in Kindergarten, and caregivers, may join us for a fun puppet show and craft.

Summer Flower Arranging

The beautiful blooms are in abundance right now. Join us to arrange these beauties from your cutting garden or the grocery store. Bring the beauty inside on July 23 at 2:00PM. No registration is required.

International Cooking Contest and Demo

Note: This event has been canceled.

Do you make Grandma's pierogi recipe or Aunt Maria's spaghetti sauce? Cook up your cultural specialties and enter our international cooking contest. Bring your dish and 10 copies of the recipe to share. Prizes will be awarded based on the audience's preferences. Also watch an Indian cooking demonstration and tasting. Join us on August 9 at 7:00PM in the Community Room. No registration required.

Family Karaoke

Can your family out-perform the Jonas Brothers? Does your family have better moves than the Jackson 5? Show us at the Family Karaoke night at the library on July 26 at 7:00PM. There may even be prizes for the best of the best. No registration needed.

Family PJ Storytime

Get out your PJ's, robes and slippers and join us for a family-friendly storytime. We want the entire family in PJ's for this fun evening. Pillows and pillow pets are welcome on Thursday, July 14 at 7:00PM in the Purple Room. No registration needed.

Kanzashi Flower

Join us Saturday July 30th at 2:00PM as CPL librarian and local artist Laura Fawcett teaches the Japanese art of kanzashi flowers. Kanzashi are beautiful folded fabric-petal flowers you can wear in your hair or as a pin. Class participants will learn basic fabric folding techniques and make a hair clip to take home. All materials will be supplied and no experience is necessary. Ages 12 and up — Registration required.

The Sales Rack

As part of our on-going Frugal Living Series, we are pleased to offer bloggers Nicole Barrett and Mary Kang. These shopping-savvy ladies will show you how to find the best deals, discounts and shopping events. Do you love shopping but hate paying full price? This is the program for you — on Thursday, June 16 at 7:00PM. No registration needed.

Happy Birthday U.S.A.

Children ages 5-8 can come to our U.S.A. program that will celebrate Independence Day with stories, a craft, and a snack. Wear red, white and blue and join the fun! Register online beginning June 14.

Potato Play

Children, ages 5-9, with caregivers, can make an original Potato Head person with a real potato, just like in the old days. Learn some interesting facts about the Potato Heads, play a game, enjoy a healthy snack and have fun.

Great Paper Airplane Contest of 2011

July 21, 11:00AM-Noon. Compete in contests from distance to tricks and win some prizes. Plus, learn some wicked new designs from our experts. Bring your own plane(s), or use our paper to create some.

Creative Writing: Discover Your Inner Voice

Teens going into grades 7-12 can hone their creative writing skills with this five-week course taught by Linda Weatherford Papa, Instructional Designer at The University Of Detroit Mercy. Register for this program beginning June 11th.

Host a Virtual Garage Sale

Everyone has unwanted stuff at home, but hosting a real garage sale can be a time consuming and complex process. Did you know that many of those items you are tripping over can be sold online, on your terms and at your own pace? Join us Tuesday June 28th at 2:00PM in the Internet Lab for tips on how to host your own Virtual Garage Sale. We will discuss ways to unload your items and make a little extra cash on sites like Ebay, Etsy, and Craiglist.

Get SET with MET… in person


On Wednesday, June 15 from 11:00AM-6:00PM, college saving experts from the Michigan Educational Trust (MET) will available to answer questions and help parents, grandparents and others understand MET.

A big giant Thank You to all the National Honor Society students who made our Homework Help tutoring program a big success again this year. Adult Fiction Writers' Group

Interested in writing fiction, all types of media or genres, for an adult audience? Join us on Thursday, June 23rd from 6:00-7:00PM for our Adult Fiction Writers' Group.
Dave Richards, a library assistant and a freelance writer for the Eisner Award winning website, Comic Book Resources, moderates. Dave has completed an unpublished science fiction mystery novel and is currently writing a horror novel.

Adults Writing Children's Lit Group

The Adults Writing Children's Lit Group will meet on Saturday, June 11th from 2:00-3:00PM in the Purple Room. If you are interested in writing for children, join us as we share our work, get feedback and discuss the craft of writing. No registration required.
