First Grade Round Up
To celebrate March is Reading Month, many Canton first graders will be visiting the library with their classes for an exciting field trip. They'll see a puppet show, go on a tour and check out a book. For some children, it's their first visit to the library. This year marks our 19th annual First Grade Round Up. Winnie the Pooh and You!
Winnie the Pooh and You!Children, ages 3-5 with a caregiver, can join us for a trip to the Hundred Acre Woods where all your favorite Pooh’s Corner friends hang out. Enjoy Pooh stories, crafts, games and snacks. We'll be heading over to the Hundred Acre Woods on Saturday March 20, 2010 from 1:00-1:45PM. Registration begins Saturday, March 6, 2010. See you there!
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
If he were still alive today, Dr. Seuss, (Theodore Seuss Geisel) would have celebrated his 106th birthday on March 2. The Canton Public Library and Canton Leisure Services threw a big party to celebrate this wonderful author. The party included Seuss-style stories, songs, crafts and snacks. Murder Will Out
To demonstrate their tremendous enthusiasm for crime, mystery, and thriller fiction, the British are planning their first National Crime Fiction Week, to run from June 14 to 20, 2010. This event is sponsored by the Crime Writers Association. CWA members will take part in readings, discussions, readers' group events and workshops all over the country. Your favorite authors are already planning Murders in Libraries, Bodies in Bookshops and Strawberries and Crime at Village Fetes. Busy Moms Book Club
The April title selection for the Busy Moms Book has been changed to Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace With Marriage by Elizabeth Gilbert. In the follow up to Eat, Pray, Love (2006), Gilbert examines her reluctant marriage to Felipe, the Brazilian businessman she met at the end of her post-divorce travels, and considers her doubts about the institution of marriage. Join us Thursday April 15th in the Children's Purple Room at 11 am for what should be an interesting discussion.All About Pianos
Everything you wanted to know about pianos will be discussed by the experts from Evola Music in Canton. They will even take a piano apart so we can see the inner workings. Everyone's Reading 2010
Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow is the 2010 Everyone's Reading selection. This novel defined the legal thriller genre and has an infamous surprise ending that most of us don't see coming. Everyone's Reading promotes community dialogue through the shared experience of reading the same book. Pick up a copy of Presumed Innocent at the Canton Public Library and join the discussion.Author Scott Turow will make a special appearance at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill this evening at 7 PM. A limited number of unclaimed tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis, in the theatre lobby beginning at 6 PM.

No Tutoring This Week, But They Will Be Back!
The NHS tutors will not be here this week (they need a break too). However, they will resume their regular schedule starting Tuesday February 23rd!If you are interested in getting tutored:
- You must be in third through twelfth grade
- If you are under 7, your parent must remain with you
- If you are under 12, NHS requires your parent must remain in the library
- You must bring the assignment, textbooks, calculators, and any other materials you need
