Calling all LEGO lovers! Join us Monday, September 10th at 5:00 PM in the Purple Room for a special viewing reception of our LEGO contest participants' creations. Participants will be showing off their 'Dream Library' to the Canton community.

On Sunday, August 19, CPL staff visits the Canton Farmer's Market to host storytimes and crafts. On this Sunday, Canton Leisure Service will also be holding a book exchange. All are invited to bring their gently used books to the market where you may exchange with other book lovers for some fresh titles to add to your home library. The Canton Farmer's Market is open from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. Storytimes are at 10:00 AM and Noon. Open to all ages.

On Saturday, September 22 from 2:00-3:30 PM, Sylvan Learning Center will present a Back To Basics Boot Camp. Make sure your child is "fit" for the challenge of a new school year. This program is designed for students aged 12 years old and up. Register today!

Canton is very proud of Olympic Gold Medal Winner Allison Schmitt, who won gold, silver and bronze medals in swimming at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. If you would like to help celebrate this hometown champion there will be a celebration rally on Tuesday, August 14 at 6:00 PM at Heritage Park Amphitheater. Congratulations Allison!

On Wednesday, September 5 from 7:00-7:45 PM, Thirupu Siva will teach children five-nine years old the basic asanas building up to intermediate poses. If attending, please wear loose fitted clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel on which to learn. Registration for this program begins on August 24 at 9:00 AM.

On Thursday September 13, from 6:30-8:30 PM, Starfish Family Services will present the first part of their informative parenting workshop on Problem Solving with your child. Titled "Turning Conflicts into Learning", they will present strategies for using conflict situations to develop important social skills as well as methods of using natural or logical consequences for setting limits. This program is developed for parents, grandparents and caregivers of children birth to five years old. Children are welcome as Starfish provides licensed daycare in the Purple Room during the workshop.

Practice speaking English in an informal setting with Community Literacy Council volunteer Judy Elliott, September Fridays from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the Purple Room.

Dr. David L. Holmes, Professor Emeritus of religious studies at The College of William and Mary, shows how our last twelve presidents' decisions were influenced by their faiths. Learn about Nixon's betrayal of Billy Graham, JFK's philandering, Eisenhower's attempt to conceal his parents' Jehovah's Witness backgrounds and much more. This is a must for history buffs and the politically aware. Join us on Wednesday, September 12 at 2:30 PM for this thoroughly researched, unbiased account.

Tune up your vocal chords — we are having a sing-a-long led by area artists, Balanced Earth. Join us on Thursday, September 6 at 7:00 PM for a blend of old favorites and newer music that will have you harmonizing along. Bring your friends and come home to the Canton Public Library for a fun evening.

Join library staff and other eReader users as we share eBook tips and tricks in an informal environment. The group will meet Tuesday, September 25 at 7:00 PM in the Purple Room.
