Acceptable items for recycling are newspapers, magazines, catalogs, school and office paper, shredded paper (in bags) and mail. Please, no cardboard, phonebooks, glass, metal, plastics or trash. Look for the recycling bin in the far southwestern corner of our staff parking lot. For more information, call (734) 397-0999

Moving? The library may have boxes available for your next move. If you need boxes, ask a library staff person at the check out desk if there are any available. We are happy to have them reused!

Canton Waste Recycling - CWR is open for recycling (plastics, paper, cardboard, tin, glass, oil, paint (limit 5 one gallon containers), antifreeze and batteries) on scheduled Fridays (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Saturdays (8 a.m. to 11a.m.).

Cartridges for Kids - A recycling program that pays schools and nonprofit organizations cash for empty laser and inkjet cartridges, used cellphones, laptops, PDAs and iPods. You can also bring the following items only - empty laser and inkjet cartridges and used cellphones - to the Canton Public Library. Simply drop them off at the reception desk and we will ship them to Cartridges for Kids on your behalf.

Dress for Success - Find Michigan locations for "Dress for Success" where you can donate womens' professional outfits.

Earth 911 - Find local depositories for a variety of recycled material.

Freecycle Network - You can post usable things you're wanting to get rid of (rather than throw them away!).

Give the Gift of Sight - Drop off your used eyewear at any LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical, BJ's Optical and Sunglass Hut or Lions Club location.

IKEA - IKEA will accept the following items for recycling: paper, cardboard, plastic bags, light bulbs, plastic bottles. Please make sure all items are cleaned before depositing. IKEA® is located at 41640 Ford Road, Canton, MI 48187. Their recycling bins are located near the exit vestibule by the Bistro.
