Student Loan Reform Passes Senate
On Friday, July 20, the Senate approved the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007 by a bipartisan majority of 78 to 18. Both senators from Michigan, Levin and Stabenow, voted in favor of the bill. It goes onto President Bush's desk in September. The bill is the largest federal boost to financial aid since the GI Bill of 1944. It brings an additional $18 billion to college financial aid programs nationwide.
