And the Winning Speller is...

13 year-old Sameer Mishra from West Lafayette, Indiana was crowned the winner in last night's Scripps National Spelling Bee. He spelled "guerdon" correctly which means, "something that is earned or gained." Among the audience was 94 year-old Frank Neuhauser, the winner of the 1st national spelling bee in 1925. First-time participant was Sidharth Chand, 12, from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, who came in second place.
