Figure Skater Kristi Yamaguchi coming to Novi Borders!

If you loved watching Kristi Yamaguchi skate her way to Olympic Gold a few years back or loved watching her elegantly dance herself to the top on Dancing with the Stars, then you are in luck! Kristi is coming to the Novi Borders at 6:00PM on March 30, 2011 to sign her new picture book, "Dream Big, Little Pig." Islam Awareness Week — Muslim Women in Canton

Living As Muslim Women In Canton will feature the daily lives of several professional women, including business owners, doctors, engineers, students, scholars, mothers and more. Join us on March 24 at 7:00PM in the Community Room to hear the accomplishments and challenges of being Muslim in Canton. This program is presented by members of the Muslim Community of Western Suburbs in celebration of Islam Awareness Week.

Make Your Own Memory In A Box

There's still plenty of space available in our Make Your Own Memory In a Box program for tweens. Fifth and sixth graders — do you like scrapbooking? Then come and decorate a box to hold a special memory, just like a scrapbook page. Bring a few photos to glue on; we will provide boxes and crafting supplies. Register online now!

Tickets for the 2011 Everyone's Reading author, Michael Connelly's talk are still available. He will be speaking on Thursday, April 14 at 7:30PM at The Berman Theatre at the Jewish Community Center (6600 West Maple RoadWest Bloomfield Township, MI 48322). The Lincoln Lawyer, a Mickey Haller book, was chosen as Metro Net Library Consortium's 2011 Everyone's Reading selection.

Places & Spaces: Mapping Science

Thursday, March 17, 4:00-7:00PM: Open House
This month at the Hatcher Graduate Library, the theme is “Mapping Science” in conjunction with the current Library Gallery exhibit Places & Spaces: Mapping Science, a traveling exhibit created by Dr. Katy Börner of Indiana University. The exhibit was created to demonstrate the power of maps to navigate and manage physical places but also abstract topic spaces. It introduces knowledge mapping techniques to the general public. It is meant to inspire cross-disciplinary discussion on how to best track and communicate human activity and scientific progress on a global scale. Allow time to view maps from the Map Library as well as the exhibit.

Third Thursday is a monthly open house that showcases the highlights of the Map Library’s vast collection. These fun, thematic events are open to everyone, offering the community a look at some of our favorite maps.

Everyone's Reading author, Michael Connelly will talk about his life and experience writing The Lincoln Lawyer, part of the Mickey Haller series. Mr. Connelly will speak on Thursday, April 14 at 2:00PM at The Community House in Birmingham and at 7:30PM at The Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield. Tickets are free and available to Canton Public Library cardholders at the library's Adult Reference Desk.

Copies of The Lincoln Lawyer will be available for purchase and signing, courtesy of the Book Beat bookstore.
