Activities

We're happy to announce the start of the Children's Department remodeling project in January 2016.  Due to our limited meeting space during this time, instead of meeting on a monthly basis we’ll be emailing our list when volunteer opportunities arise. You can sign-up on a first-come, first-served basis for those hands on events from January through May 2016. We’ll update the monthly calendar when regular meetings will begin again.

If you would like to be added to our email list, submit your information to the librarians or by using our online form, located in the volunteer section on our website.

We truly appreciate the great assistance from our tween volunteers, and want to direct you to other volunteer opportunities in the area. Some great resources in your search are:

PB&J Club: http://pbjoutreach.org/volunteer/

Open Door Ministry Food Pantry takes volunteers of all ages on a weekly basis on Thursday evenings: http://www.opendoorfoodministry.org/wanttohelp.php

For other opportunities, the city maintains a list of local volunteer opportunities at http://www.canton-mi.org/582/Volunteer-Scholarship-Opportunities

Please contact me, Michelle, or Amelia at (734) 397-0999 with any questions.

Produce Exchange Stand

Do you have a surfeit of strawberries? A bumper crop of tomatoes? We've set up a produce exchange stand, thanks to our friends at Canton Leisure Services, to facilitate the sharing of your home-grown goods. Simply drop off any extra produce in the stand by the front entrance (make sure it's in good shape, free of insects or excess soil). Or help yourself to any produce that's in the bin and enjoy the bounty. Don't forget to claim the Chow Down On the Scene badge for participating.

Around the World with Books Quiz

How well do you know your books? We've got a special quiz to take you around the world with literature! (We have one for kids, and a more challenging one for adults.)

Stop by the CYS Command Center and get an Around the World Book Quiz. Match the setting of each book to the letter on the map, and turn in your quiz for the chance to win a prize. Don't forget to claim your Around the World badge online as well!
