Spooky Summer Read

Hey everyone going into 5th or 6th grade this fall - are you looking for a fun, spooky read this summer? Then sign up for the library's July Tween book discussion. This month we're reading Deep and Dark and Dangerous by Mary Downing Hahn. It's about a girl named Ali trying to solve a ghostly mystery during her summer vacation at a cottage in Maine. Registration begins on Saturday, July 4, and we'll discuss the book over a pizza lunch on Saturday, July 18, from 1-2pm. Hope to see you then!

Thorndyke Thoughts

Hey Kids! I have to tell you how much I've loved seeing all my friends come to the library over the last couple of weeks. Did you know that over 3000 of you have registered for Summer Reading? Wow! 1500 of you registered on the very first day! Double Wow! And then lots of you--I think we counted over 700 of you--came back this week to see Joel Tacey, make a craft, or watch a movie! Thanks for making our summer so busy, 'cause the librarians and I love seeing you have fun! Keep Reading! And don't forget to stop and say hello!
Bear Hugs!

Catfish Katie and the Sweet Swamp Band

Catfish Kate and the Sweet Swamp Band by Sarah Weeks is a great story to read aloud. While Kate and her band want to play music in the swamp, some of the other animals want their peace and quiet. Luckily, Kate comes up with a creative compromise to satisfy everyone. This is a very fun story to read aloud because it has a strong rhythm and rhyming pattern throughout the book.Read more >>
