[11: 10] Hi my name is Caitlin Berdijo and I'm am now a sophomore at Plymouth High School. I'm not fond of talking about myself because I find it very difficult, but I'll do my best. :] I was born in Detroit, MI on August 4, 1994. Finally, I'm almost 15! One more year and I'll be able to drive! Yay! The past ten years, I have lived in Canton with my mom and dad. It's just us, no other kids in the house, but we do have two cockatiels. I guess those could count as "kids". I'm not really sure. haha. This past year I have recently gotten back into an old love of mine, dance. [Oh my gosh, 11:11... MAKE A WISH! I'm one of those people that believes in miracles and wishes and things like that.] From the age of three till the age of 13, I danced continuously. I was even a competitive dancer for three of those years. Dance was my life. Now my life is more revolved around my school work, friends, family, and the Asian Pacific American Club (APAC); my second family. I joined this club at P-CEP just this year and it has done nothing but help me with my transition from middle school to high school. I have met some of the best people through APAC. We had a show this year, APAC show, and we got to spend a lot of time together through that. We did a lot of cultural dances, four of which I got to be apart of. It was one of the highlights of my year. Oh, and I got to be a team captain of Team APAC for Relay For Life Canton. I got to plan out everything for our team and it was an amazing experience. Some of my hobbies include dance [obviously], playing tennis or any kind of sport really [aside from soccer], reading, listening to music, and writing. I have always had an interest in writing since I was young. My interest hasn't resulted in me wanting a career like journalism, but it has always been a stress reliever for me. When ever I have to get something off of my chest, I just write. I have journals and notes to myself that I have found over the years starting back to when I was in second grade. Hmm, my favorite color is blue and has been for majority of my life, my favorite artist is McFly, a very popular British band in Europe. My favorite music to listen to is... anything. If it sounds good to me, I like it... everything but country, but even then I have my exceptions. My favorite food is Filipino food and sushi. Both of my parents were born in the Philippines so I was raised around Filipino customs and culture and food had a lot to do with it. My personality is really hard to understand for a lot of people. I try my best to be a really positive person and to stay out of drama [which I've been able to do really well, lately]. I'm shy when you first meet me, but if you make an effort to get to know me, that shyness will disappear. I'm really enthusiastic and determined when it comes to getting something done and because of that, I'm a perfectionist. When I grow up, I would like to attend the University of Michigan and study nursing and biology to get a double major and maybe eventually go into medicine. My life long dream is to travel the world. I love new experiences and trying new things. The world has a lot to offer and I want to see what I can of it. [11:15]

*** Sorry I didn't mean to write this much. I just did one of the five minute writings. XD

Hi, Caitlin! Nice to meet you! This is a wonderful introduction! Nice job! (Hm, going crazy with the exclamations…did you notice this? )

I can tell you keep a journal as your thoughts flow easily. This is evidence of allowing yourself to express your feelings openly and it's as if you've been exercising this ability all for a long time. Your introduction has muscle! I hope you'll continue this self-expression. (I love hearing that you're keeping up those five minute exercises.)

I'd like to hear more about your interest in dance. This, to me, offers great fodder for writing. If you can translate your experience into writing, I believe it will help you in a number of ways. You'll not only increase your ability to observe the details of your life, but I think you might even develop a deeper appreciation for this art form. A good writer is a good observer; you're already on your way. Zero in on your experience to share with the world. No one experiences dance like you do. This gives you a unique vantage point.

What you've included here says a lot about who you are, what you find important in your life, and where your talent lies. I look forward to reading more of your writing.

Linda
