Manga Drawing Contest 2011
Enter CPL’s Manga Drawing Contest and you could win one of three great prizes. Last day to enter is July 31; winners will be announced at the Connect Your Summer Celebration on August 13. Check out last year's entries and winners for inspiration.
Contest Rules
- Entries must be submitted by students entering 5th–12th grade. Winners will be chosen in 3 divisions: 5th-6th, 7th-9th, 10th-12th
- All art must be your own, but the drawings can be of anything: a copy of your favorite character, an original character you’ve made up, or a story in comic strip form. You may get inspiration or instruction from a book, but please do not copy the images inside exactly
- Limit of 2 art entries per person
- All drawings must fit on an 8½ by 11 piece of paper. You may use any medium to create your artwork
- This year, bonus points will be awarded to artwork that showcases a unique world culture or mix of cultures. To do this, you may use any time period and/or place. Here’s some examples:
- A girl in a traditional Japanese kimono
- Naruto dressed as a German soldier during WWI
- a boy with a beret sitting at a French cafe
- Rukia from Bleach dressed as an American 50’s rock musician
- Someone piloting a mecha in future 2280 Japan
- An 1800s Native American girl chasing down a giant anime buffalo
- All participants' entries, with consent, will be displayed on the Canton Public Library website. Note: if you are under 18, it is assumed that you have your parents' permission to have your artwork displayed online
- The deadline for all entries is July 31, 2011. Paper entries will be available for pick up after August 13. Last day to retrieve artwork is September 1
- You can submit your artwork using the paper entry form here (if so, please drop off your artwork in a manila envelope with your name on it at the library), or the form below
