Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is a post-apocalyptic novel about a future in which androids are almost indistinguishable from humans, but they're not allowed on Earth, only on the human colony on Mars, so someone has to hunt the escapees down. The movie Blade Runner is based on this book, but there are quite a few differences between the novel and the film.
