This famous play is about the Salem Witch Trials. Based on real life; it tells the story of how a group of girls accused many innocent people of witchcraft. In order to save their life, the were forced to confess to contacting the Devil. Did they not confess, they were hanged. The plot really revolves around a well-known farmer named John Proctor, whose wife has been accused; in order to save her, he must confess to a crime of his own that could possibly jeopardize the entire proceedings. A great read; I highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in America's early history..
