Star Wars

We watched all 6 Star Wars Movies, starting with Episode 1 and going all the way through episode 6 (not all on the same day) as well as some of the LEGO specials--The Empire Strikes Out and the Padawan Menace.  Episodes 4 and 6 are still my favorite.

Geek Out with Doctor Who

"You want weapons? We're in a library. Books are the best weapon in the world. This room's the greatest arsenal we could have. Arm yourself!"

The Doctor loves libraries, and libraries love Doctor Who. Later this year, the BBC science fiction classic Doctor Who will celebrate its 50-year anniversary. In celebration, CPL's very own Whovians have put together a delightful display all about our favorite Time Lord. Stop by from July 22nd to 28th to see what we've put together (hint: it's bigger on the inside!).

In the meantime, check out these time-bending books and DVDs featuring the Doctors and his interstellar friends, companions and enemies.

If you haven't yet become familiar with the world of Doctor Who, this is a good place to start:

Doctor Who. The complete first series, Discs 1 & 2 [videodisc] by 2 Entertain ; BBC

Up to date on the series and looking for more? Check out the Captain Jack spinoff, Torchwood:

Torchwood. The complete first season, Disc 1 [videodisc] by British Broadcasting Corporation

And of course, there are always books...

Beautiful chaos by Gary Russell

Picked out new blinds for the living room.

So much fun!

I drew an outline of my toddler's foot on the back of his favorite book.

I tried to outline his hand, but the little monkey wouldn't sit still long enough for me to draw around his hand. He kept trying to grab the pen so I settled for his foot instead!

I experimented with my camera.

I took lots of pictures and videos of my toddler and husband, and tried different settings on the camera.

I had a study day with my friends

I wrote an essay about The Great Wall.

I learn some rhymes in Chinese. It's so hard, but I tried my best.

I did some math worksheets for half hour.

When Sharknado Attacks...

We like to think that we live in relative harmony with the wild and dangerous creatures around us, but sometimes nature (or science) reminds us that there are bigger, badder creatures on this planet-and some of them want to eat us. Some are tiny and come in large numbers, some are large and have sharp claws, and some hide in deep waters and have many rows of sharp teeth, such as the airborne in the recent film Sharknado.

Check out these spine-tingling films about when animals (or lizards or arachnids or...) attack!
