Back In Time

Went on the Gettysburg Battlefield tour

It's a lot bigger than I thought it was. And there's lots of open, hilly space. Not exactly the place you should fight a three-day battle.

I read this book all by myself

Old Friends, New Friends by Patricia Hall

Went to Kentucky and saw Dinosaur stuff

Visited Pearl Harbor

While in Hawaii, I experienced Pearl Harbor, including the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri, and the Pacific Aviation Museum. The exhibits are very well done, and the USS Arizona Memorial was emotionally overwhelming to see. The names of the dead servicemen, servicewomen, and civilians carved into the various monuments was a stark reminder of the sacrifices made for our freedoms.

Read a book that takes place in 1920s Alaska

Bo at Ballard Creek

Bo at Ballard Creek by Kirkpatrick Hill ; illustrations by LeUyen Pham — This book was a little slow-paced, so it took me awhile to finish. Though it's not plot-driven whatsoever, it's a sweet story with likable characters.

The Castle in the Attic by Elizabeth Winthrop
In this book William, a ten year old boy from our time went back in time to help Sir Simon. Sir Simon, the Silver Knight needed help getting his kingdom back after being put under a spell. I liked William because he believed in himself and used gymnastics to defeat the evil wizard.

I watched the episodes of 3 stooges(black and white version)

When I first heard that my dad was going to make me watch the black and white 1960's version of the 3 stooges, I was really mad! But when I saw it, Boy! it was SO funny! So I learned that you shouldn't judge ANYTHING by its cover or in other words, you shouldn't judge anything by the way it looks or is presented.

The Headmistress

I read a book to earn this badge:
The Headmistress by Angela Thirkell
I love Angela Thirkell as a writer. She has a wonderful way with words and is simply funny. Her wry sense of humor and tendency to speak to the writer reminds me of some older writers like Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte.  The majority of her novels are set in England around World War 2, so I feel like I am learning history while I read.  In this particular book, the complications of those at home during war time really became real to me.  Yes, it felt a little like reading a Dowton Abbey episode. But don't let that encourage/discourage you.  It's simply a good book.

i read the book called Paws Off Cheddarface!
