Chow Down Reader
Doggone feet! by Leslie Helakoski — This book describes a family as it grows from the perspective of the family dog eating scraps under the table. Since he only sees the bottoms of the family, he describes them by their feet! This rhyming story has a very fun surprise at the end.

Everything on a waffle by Polly Horvath
Primrose Squarp's parents have been lost at sea for months, but she insists they're still alive somewhere, shipwrecked and waiting for rescue. As she waits for their return, she moves in with her uncle, befriends the sassy owner of The Girl on the Red Swing cafe (where everything is served on a waffle), and deals with her school's snooty guidance counselor, Miss Honeycut. I loved the colorful cast of characters in this book, as well as the vivid descriptions of Primrose's hometown of Coal Harbour, British Columbia.
