I climbed the Great Wall. It was amazing place. The Great Wall is about 8,851.8 kilometers (5,500 miles) from east to west of China. I went about 1km. It's so hard to climb. I'll try another day. It is the most appealing attractions place.

My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece

My sister lives on the mantelpiece: a novel by Annabel Pitcher —

Jamie's family has been torn apart by grief; five years ago, his older sister Rose was killed in a terrorist bombing in London. Jamie's mother abandons the family, and his father's incapability of dealing with Rose's death leaves Jamie mostly in the care of his teenage sister, Jasmine (Rose's surviving twin). At school, Jamie finds a friend in Sunya, but must keep the friendship a secret due to his father's prejudices.

This was not a light summer beach read! However, I enjoyed it. This short novel packed an emotional punch and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a "serious" read.

Letters from Skye by Jessica (Turza) Brockmole
Jessica (Turza) Brockmole is a graduate of Plymouth Salem High School who has gone on to great things.  This is her first novel and I loved it.  It is receiving great reviews and is already published in 23 languages.  Jessica will visit Canton Public Library on Monday, July 22 at 7:00 PM to discuss "Letters from Skye."
The entire book is told through the very personal letters of poet Elspeth Dunn from her home on the Isle of Skye off the coast of Scotland.  The love story begins during WWI and carries through WWII with Elspeth's daughter.  Get out the Kleenex and enjoy.

Wired Love: A Romance of Dots and Dashes
Written in 1880, this book takes us back to a simplier, slower time when people communicated by letter or in rare occasions, telephone.  They could also send messages by telegraph.  Nattie Rogers is a lonely, and slightly bored telegraph operator, who strikes up a friendship with an operator at another station whom she's never met.   This book is at times, comical, sweet, sad, and romantic.
