Read "Twenties Girl"
This novel by Sophie Kinsella is a funny and touching story about 20-something Lara, who's being haunted by the ghost of her great-aunt. There's one last wish that Lara must help her aunt fulfill before she can rest in peace. I highly recommend this book for fans of British chick lit.

Went back in time with some dvds and books on cd
I went back into the 1920's and 1930's with Dorothy Sayers' famous detective series starring Lord Peter Wimsey. The BBC dvd series (there are 2 of them here at Canton) are fabulous and so are the books on CD. I listed to Strong Poison read by the fabulous Ian Carmichael.

I read the Resisters Book 2: the Sterling Squadron by Eric Nylund
In Sterling Squadron, Ethan Blackwood is still shocked to find out the the Earth has been taken over by mind control aliens called the Ch'zar who can only control the minds of adults. Ethan and his friends go on a mission go on a mission to recruit kids for their cause which is to fight the Ch'zar with their own technology. The Ch'zar and the Resisters use huge bug/planes to attack. When you are in your bug, their mind attaches with yours and only children can control that. This book is a battle to the finish!

Watched John Adams
We are slowly making our way through the John Adams miniseries that played on HBO a few years ago. I'm finding the history of the forming of our nation very interesting.

Watched a DVD on the history of Rome
This was the most entertaining and educational history video I've ever seen: Drive Thru History with Dave Stotts: Rome if You Want. I learned so much about the ancient Romans, the rise and fall of the Roman Empire and the people and events that still have an impact on our world today. Highly recommend it!

Visited the Fort on Mackinac Island
The soldiers were dressed like the would have been in the late 1800s. They taught us about old music, guns, cannons, and children's games.

I visited the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum
I visited the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and saw the bell of the infamous wrecked ship the Edmund Fitzgerald. The museum was small but very interesting and had extremely lifelike mannequins. The library has quite a collection of books about shipwrecks in the Great Lakes. Many A Midnight Ship: True Stories of Great Lakes Shipwrecks looks particularly interesting!
