Electrify Your Winter

This winter we are trying something new to help you avoid cabin fever, stay entertained and meet you where you are. Electrify Your Winter is a program that starts on January 1 and ends March 20, the International Day of Happiness.

Electrify Your Winter offers ways to stay involved in the library community without necessarily leaving the comfort of your warm and cozy couch. There’s a Checklist Challenge, where you can read e-books/books, listen to music from the ‘60s, learn words in a new language, watch a movie set outside the US and other challenges. The library will also broadcast live storytimes from our weekly programs on Facebook, just in case it’s too snowy to leave your house or you don’t want to deal with boots and snowsuits. Librarians will read stories fireside to access on our YouTube channel whenever you want to- whether that be on a snow day or on a day you’re looking for something to entertain the kids with. A special Pinterest board will have suggestions to help you get cozy and beat winter the winter blues while our Goodreads group will be hosting online book discussions. When you do come visit us, we might just surprise you with hot chocolate, coffee and tea to warm you up before you head back into the Michigan cold.  We look forward to sharing the cold months with you.

How 'bout showing an afternoon adult movie at the library to be followed by discussion?

Helaine,

Thank you for your suggestion. Movie showings for adults have met with very limited success in the past. However, we will explore your idea for a movie followed by discussion and see if we cannot find a way to craft a more enticing program offering. Have a great day!
