Played with, and Read to My Puppy

I read a book to earn this badge:
I Know a Wee Piggy
This morning we played trucks and numbers with our dog, and then we read her a book about a very colorful, messy piggy:

Read a Great Picture Book Biography

I read a book to earn this badge:
Imogen: The Mother of Modernism and Three Boys by Amy Novesky
Read a short, but fascinating picture book biography of Imogen Cunningham, an early twentieth century photographer. She worked to balance a family life (she had three boys) with her photography and gardening. The book made me want to learn more about her life, so I took a look at the recommended website at the back.

Re-read a Favorite Series

I read a book to earn this badge:
The Betsy-Tacy books by Maud Hart Lovelace
These are the first four in the series - it continues until Betsy, Tacy and Tib are all grown up. It's one of my favorite series from childhood, with the major exception of Anne of Green Gables.

Found Another Reason Why I Love History

I read a book to earn this badge:
Founding Myths by Ray Raphael
I love it when someone does more research and/or new sources comes to light. This book examines any number of traditions we hold about our Revolutionary War period, and is a great reminder about why history is exciting and a little bit mysterious.

Read a Fun Book about Childbirth

I read a book to earn this badge:
The Dad's Playbook to Labor and Birth

Although this book is targeted toward dads, and despite the somewhat cheesy approach to the topic, I thought this had some great suggestions for anyone who might be involved in the labor and delivery process as a support person. Dealt with some of the gorier details in a matter-of-fact and practical way.

Read a Picture Book

I read a book to earn this badge:
Different Like Coco by Elizabeth Matthews

This book read more like a fun story than a biography, and made me want to learn more about Coco Chanel. It also reminded me a little of the TV Series House of Eliott, also about fashion in the early twentieth century.
