The deductive detective by Brian Rock ; illustrated by Sherry Rogers —  Detective Duck uses his de-duck-tive (ha! so funny!) reasoning skills. to figure out what animal stole Fox's cake. This book helped me practice counting backwards (subtraction!). there are also fun exercises in the back to help develop your own deductive reasoning skills.  I feel smarter already.

Wired Love: A Romance of Dots and Dashes

Written in 1880, this book takes us back to a simplier, slower time when people communicated by letter or in rare occasions, telephone.  They could also send messages by telegraph.  Nattie Rogers is a lonely, and slightly bored telegraph operator, who strikes up a friendship with an operator at another station whom she's never met.   This book is at times, comical, sweet, sad, and romantic.
