Shared Experiences from 2013
How Eskimos keep their babies warm: parenting wisdom from around the world by Mei-Ling Hopgood — This was an interesting look at differing methods and philosophies of parenting all over the world. With an almost-three-year-old and another baby on the way, I found the varying ideas about potty training, discipline, father involvement, play vs. work, and even sleep training to be fascinating. I thought this was great book that does not take the part of one method over another (one of the most frustrating flaws of so many parenting books).
Vegetable gardening by Jo Whittingham
This book tried to cover too many things, and ended up not being as informative as I would have liked. Fabulous photographs, though.
Edible gardening for the Midwest: vegetables, herbs, fruits & seeds by Colleen Vanderlinden and Alison Beck
This book was more usefully organized, with plants in alphabetical order. Herbs and a few less common edible plants are included, which is a nice feature.
