Primates: the fearless science of Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey, and Biruté Galdikas by Jim Ottaviani & [illustrated by] Maris Wicks — An interesting graphic novel on three women scientists who studied apes. Might have to read more about these interesting ladies.
Everything on a waffle by Polly Horvath
Primrose Squarp's parents have been lost at sea for months, but she insists they're still alive somewhere, shipwrecked and waiting for rescue. As she waits for their return, she moves in with her uncle, befriends the sassy owner of The Girl on the Red Swing cafe (where everything is served on a waffle), and deals with her school's snooty guidance counselor, Miss Honeycut. I loved the colorful cast of characters in this book, as well as the vivid descriptions of Primrose's hometown of Coal Harbour, British Columbia.
