Game On - Puzzle Activitiy

Can't make it to a Game On program?  That's ok, we've got two fun puzzles you can complete any time you're in the library this summer.  Stop by the CYS Command Center and grab a word search, or "match the rule to the game" puzzle sheet.

Library Closed June 14

The library will be closed Saturday, June 14 to ease traffic congestion due to Canton's Liberty Fest. You can still use electronic resources like Overdrive and hoopla, access databases, and use MyAccount to renew items or check due dates, plus search the catalog and place holds. We will open Sunday, June 15 at noon.

Movie Madness: The Lego Movie

Start your summer break off right with a viewing of The Lego Movie! On Tuesday June 17 starting at 2:00PM watch as Emmett Brickowski and his rag tag group of Lego friends find their creativity and battle the evil Lord Business.
You may bring pillows, snacks, even your own comfy lawn chairs if you like. And remember...Everything is AWESOME!

Meet a Horse

This program will be held outside. Please dress for the weather.

Canton Public Library is pleased to welcome Jennifer Blades, the Coach of the University of Michigan's Equestrian team and owner of Willowbrooke Farm in Plymouth on Wednesday June 18th from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Jenny will bring a very special guest, one of her favorite school horses, Darien. She'll describe the basics of English riding skills and horse maintenance. Darien is a gentle, sweet horse and he loves kids! This is an outdoor event.

Construction Progress Update

Seating AreaFriday we received the delivery of most of the remaining furniture pieces. Seating units, some with built-in power ports, are being installed, as are end tables and lighting.

Our service desk is fully functional and the new self-service area is up and running. This area includes 2 copy/print machines, 6 self-checkout machines and a self-service fax, as well as a small work area.

This leaves just a few punch list items to complete and some finishing touches like signage and the delivery of a couple small tables. We are happy to report that this project is on schedule and within budget. Our PSIP page has complete information.

I decoupaged an old coffee table.

Instead of trashing an old, crapped out coffee table I decided to decoupage pictures of old movie posters onto the surface. After several coats of spray shellac I have a brand new piece of furniture!

Your Summer Starts Here

Celebrate Go Outdoors Month All Summer Long

You can celebrate Get Outdoors Month all summer long. The official celebration takes place in June, but you can find activities to celebrate going outdoors throughout our Connect Your Summer experience. Use library materials to learn a new outdoor sport, plan an outdoor adventure, or just to find a great book to take outside. Share your experience to earn a badge.

During the month of June, check out our Great Outdoors Month display in the Tween Scene (pictured).

Why didn't all my returned materials get checked in?

I put 5 movies in the outside return box this morning, but I just checked my record and see only 3 got checked in. What happened?

Requesting a book.

Hi, I was at the library a few days ago trying to request a book. When I tried it said that it was denied and listed a few reasons as to why. I went up to the counter and asked the librarian if anything was wrong with my card. She said no, and to just try again. I went to go try again and it didn't work. I then decided to look for another book, and request it. When I requested it, it worked. Why did it work for one book, but not the other? How can I get the book on my request list if it won't work?

ipad1 kit

Hi,

I just borrowed the ipad kit yesterday from the library and was wondering if there is a way to access the internet browser. I cannot find the safari browser on it, has this been disabled?

Made a raspberry pie from scratch!

Watched the movie "The Company Men"

Walked for 40 minutes

Okay, so today's workout was more Conquer it then Be Well and definitley not Love it!   Today was a very low energy day (quite atypical for me).  Working out was a struggle. Walked to the park at the end of my street and then around the track once and then I continued on into the nature preserve at the back of the park.  Challenged myself to take a hilly path I haven't taken before.  It was steep and challenging and I admit that when I got home 40 minutes later I was glad that I kept my exercise commitment.

Went to Plymouth's Art in the Park festival

...and saw the living mural!

Watched Singin' in the Rain on the Big Screen *swoon*

I went with some family to what used to be Canton Cinema 6 to see Singin' in the Rain on the big screen. It was fabulous. Clearly sponsored by Turner Classic Movies, one of the best parts was the introduction, when host Robert Osborne interviewed Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor, among others, about the making of the movie. It was a great experience. My favorite dance number was Moses Supposes, followed closely by Good Mornin'. If you missed it:
