E. Davis said that Gail Bell received an updated SEV projection from the Township Finance department. While residential properties have declined 9.8%, the projection now is that commercial development will offset some of that loss. The projection shows an overall 7% decline in total SEV (residential and commercial), which is worse than what was projected 6 months ago (4%).

Friends

The Friends of the Canton Public Library are active advocates and supporters of the library. Their membership, which totals 178 people, runs Secondhand Prose, the used bookstore, and supports many library programs with financial and other contributions. If you have used materials from the History Collection, Women’s Collection, Multicultural Collection or Business Collection, you have the Friends to thank for the funding to keep those collections current.

The Friends are big contributors to our Summer Reading program, donating prizes and funds for the Fun in the Sun Day, special events throughout the year like the popular Konami Drums and Big Band programs, Resume Writing and Techniques and others.

The Friends also make a significant contribution to the library’s endowment fund and help support staff and patrons all year. They help make the Canton Public Library a valuable part of our community.

We encourage you to support the Friends by becoming a member or patronizing the Secondhand Prose Used Bookstore. Visit the Friends page for more information.

What's Wrong With My Plant?

What's Wrong With My Plant? (And How Do I Fix It?) A Visual Guide to Easy Diagnosis and Organic Remedies by David Deardorff and Kathryn Wadsworth

This book is just what you'd expect from the title, and it's filled with brief, detailed explanations of plant problems accompanied by color illustrations of each. There is also a full-color photo gallery of problems that I found extremely helpful for seeing the difference between similar-looking problems. There are also a bunch of organic remedies, safe for use on edibles and in areas where children or pets are active. This is a book I can see myself coming back to on a regular basis.
