If you’re a firstcomer to Pratchett, then Wee Free Men is an excellent place to start; if you're an old fan, then rest assured that all of the trademark wit you've come to love is here. I found this book hillarious. I could tell you about a girl trying to become a witch, lost baby brothers, and little blue men, but it's the clever dialogue that sells this book. Oh, and the audio book is excellent too!

The UK's National Literacy Trust has confirmed what we already know, that youngsters who use the library are likely to be better readers. Canton Public Library has lots of resources that make reading fun. Book and Puppet kits allow kids to act out a story after it's been read to them. Book and CD kits lets kids follow along with a reader and are great for long car trips. Nicklas Lidstrom Promotes Exercise, Good Diet at Field Elementary

New Dietary Guidlines Released

On January 31, 2011, the The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services released the new Dietary Guidelines 2010. Today is Thomas Edison's 164th birthday. Thomas Edison was one of the world's most famous inventors. Some of his inventions include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and an electric light bulb. Kids! Score Tickets for the Red Wings or Pistons

Reminder: Deadline to enter for free Pistons tickets is April 4th. Tickets for the Detroit Red Wings are sold out.

The Michigan Education Association is rewarding students for reading through the "Michigan Reads" program. The simple program requires children and teens to work with either an educator or parent. Students need to read five age appropriate books between now and April 1, 2011. Once that parent or educator confirms the books have been read, they go to www.michiganreads.com to select the Pistons or Red Wings, enter contact information and the list of books read. Within a few days, the team will respond. So get going and read five to see the Pistons or Red Wings Live!
