Fine Arts for Kids

Local fine artist Amarjeet Kapoor will teach, step by step, how to improve drawing skills and uncover hidden artistic talent. You will begin by sketching the basic shapes and lines and then will combine these pieces to create a more realistic drawing. You will also apply coloring and shading to make it a finished piece of art. This class is designed for kids aged 5-9 years old.
Both sessions take place on Saturday, May 16 from 1:00-1:45PM and again at 2:00-2:45PM. Please only register for one session as they are identical in format and content.  Registration is required and begins on April 27.

Child Development Lecture: Exercise, Nutrition and Brain Development

Join us on Saturday, May 30, from 1:00-3:00PM, as Banyan Montessori Academy will present Dr. Sean Gregory from Canton Center Chiropractic Clinic to talk with parents about helping their children grow into their full potential.

If nutrition provides the building blocks of the body genes, then exercise provides the blue prints. The consumption of optimal levels of micro-nutrients (minerals, vitamins and plant chemicals) is necessary for both children and adults who desire to operate at their full capacity. This coupled with a proper macro-nutrient (carbs, protein, and fats) is what paves the way to individual optimization. In addition to proper nutrition, exercise grows and reinforces the brain at the same time as it grows and reinforces the body.  Movement tells our bodies how to lay down new bone when we grow, helps aid our digestion through core activity and breathing, and activates and balances our hormones.
Dr. Gregory will be discussing the building blocks of nutrition to grow a healthy, active brain as well as how exercise is integral to fully realizing our potentials.
