Something's Missing in the Children's DVD Collection

Beginning today, the J DVD collection is getting an update. Over the next month each J DVD will get a new three-letter label. These labels (that look just like the ones on the Adult DVDs) will make it easier to find the titles you're looking for.

J DVDs will not be available for check-out while they are being re-labeled. The good news is that each movie should be unavailable for less than one day. If you need help finding what you're looking for, please ask one of the librarians at the Children's Reference Desk.

Where are the Playaways?

We are in the process of withdrawing our Playaway audiobook collection. If you are looking for a good audiobook, many titles are available in other audio formats. Click on a link to browse our newest

A Mixed Bag of Teen Reads from 2010

Some of my favorite teen books from 2010 include fantasy, historical fiction, and a few plain old realistic fiction reads.

Ostrich boys by Keith Gray

Sisters red by Jackson Pearce

Countdown by Deborah Wiles

The cardturner: a novel about a king, a queen, and a joker by Louis Sachar

The Grimm Legacy by Polly Shulman

After ever after by Jordan Sonnenblick

Share Some Silliness with your Little One

If you're looking for something silly and short to share with your little one, take a look at the Sandra Boynton items in our collection. The board books are quick little reads: some have silly themes like belly buttons and others are fun stories about animals. If you're looking for children's music that won't drive you crazy, Philadelphia Chickens is my favorite. The songs aren't obnoxious, but they are catchy enough that you'll remember them later if you need to entertain your baby on the go.
