DIA Inside|Out Art in Canton
We are pleased to be part of the Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out program, which brings high-quality reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA's collection to the streets. There are six pieces displayed in Canton, including this one, Young Woman with a Violin by Italian painter Orazio Gentileschi. This painting depicts Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, and was created in 1612. The artist's daughter is the model; the painting is a gift of Mrs. Edsel B. Ford.Get news and information about programs and activities throughout Canton to celebrate our participation in this program on our Inside|Out page. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation sponsors this program.

This program is fab and the painting at the library is stunning against the brick wall outside the building!

We had a great time visiting all the paintings. My girls and I prepared a serendipity day, part of our summer activities, and enjoyed, discussed and shared the experience of visual arts. We headed out to the DIA to see them in person. What a great program, good outreach! Thanks to everyone involved in this.
