Biographies for Second Graders

Looking for true stories about real people? Try some of these and be inspired. Suggestions are geared toward second graders, but can be enjoyed by many ages.

Imogen: the mother of modernism and three boys by Amy Novesky  An introduction to a little-known photographer, who blended career, art, and family.

The Beatles were fab (and they were funny) by Kathleen Krull and Paul Brewer  Don't forget to accompany a reading of this band biography with some music

Footwork: the story of Fred and Adele Astaire by Roxane Orgill  An easy reader biography of the Astaire dance partnership before it became all about Fred and Ginger.

Jubilee!: one man's big, bold, and very, very loud celebration of peace by Alicia Potter  After the American Civil War, one man organizes the biggest and loudest concert to celebrate.
