It's sure to be an exciting game as both teams are undefeated and ranked; Michigan State 17 and Michigan 18. The two schools have played over 100 times and the rivalry has been played continuously for 64 seasons.

America's Largest Free Jazz Festival comes to Detroit this Labor Day Weekend. Subtitled "Flamekeepers: Carrying the Torch of Modern Jazz" the DJF salutes the legacy of Art Blakey, Ray Brown, Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Betty Carter, Lester Bowie and Gil Evans. Sprawling over several city blocks in downtown Detroit, from Hart Plaza to Campus Martius, the festival offers fun for the whole family. From educational activities, storytelling, food and the launching of Jazz Planet.tv. The festival boasts five stages and 100 acts over the four day weekend which runs from Friday through Monday. This weekend's Thunder Over Michigan Air Show at Willow Run in Ypsilanti will feature displays of historical and significant aircraft of the U.S. Military. Re-enactments of WWII battles, an F-16C Fighting Falcon Demonstration and a Gathering of Fortressess Legends are also scheduled. If you missed Canton's fireworks during the Heritage Festival, have no fear! Local fireworks are scheduled in Dearborn, Plymouth, and Westland. Other Michigan communities are also having fireworks if you happen to be traveling this Holiday Weekend. The top 32 soccer teams from around the globe compete in the most competitive and most watched sporting event the world has ever known, the FIFA World Cup. South Africa hosts the World Cup and becomes the first African nation to do so. The Cup kicks off on June 11th and continues until July 11th.
