The Summit offers free Tax-Aide counseling through AARP as part of an IRS-sponsored program for seniors. Trained and certified volunteer counselors assist people of low-to-middle income with special attention to those 60 and over for both federal and state returns. Big Chill at the Big House!
The University of Michigan and Michigan State ice hockey teams continue their Cold War in the Big Chill on Saturday, December 11th at 3:00PM. It all happens at the University of Michigan Stadium where officials are hoping to break the Guinness World Record for attendance at an outdoor hockey game. If you can't get to the game you'll have an opportunity to skate at the Big House on Sunday December 12th!

Detroit International Jazz Festival Celebrates its 31th Year!
America's Largest Free Jazz Festival comes to Detroit this Labor Day Weekend. Subtitled "Flamekeepers: Carrying the Torch of Modern Jazz" the DJF salutes the legacy of Art Blakey, Ray Brown, Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Betty Carter, Lester Bowie and Gil Evans. Sprawling over several city blocks in downtown Detroit, from Hart Plaza to Campus Martius, the festival offers fun for the whole family. From educational activities, storytelling, food and the launching of Jazz Planet.tv. The festival boasts five stages and 100 acts over the four day weekend which runs from Friday through Monday.
