The hobbit, or, There and back again by J.R.R. Tolkien — J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit turns 75 years old on September 21. September 22 is also Hobbit Day, honoring the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo (whose long awaited birthday celebration initiatied events in the Fellowship of the Ring). With the first film in a trilogy based on The Hobbit releasing this December, it's a great time to check it out for a reread!
Here's some great news. The entire Magic School Bus TV series has finally been rereleased on DVD. We've made it easier to find by shelving it in the JDVD section. Each disc has multiple episodes on it. With eight discs in the series there are lots of adventures to be had with Ms. Frizzle and her class.
Hey kids, did you know Canton Public Library celebrates birthdays? During your birthday month you can fill out a special paper shape for your birthday that is displayed here on the Birthday Wall in the Children's Library. Friday, July 13th is Embrace Your Geekness day. It's a great day to proudly proclaim you are a geek. Remember, the definition of a geek can be "a person with an eccentric devotion to a particular interest." Everyone has a little bit of geek in them. What are you totally interested in? Is it comic books? Technology? Sports? A particular TV show? Show your Geekness by visiting the library dressed like a geek and get entered into a special drawing.
