Well, you voted, and the results are in! Now you need to come to the Library to check out my cool Halloween costume! "Wizard" won with a whopping 30 votes. "Superhero" came a distant second with 11 votes. And there was even a write in vote for "Princess". Hmmmm, Royalty could be a good costume for next year. I like the sound of King Thorndyke. Thanks for all your votes--in the library and online! And don't forget to wear your Halloween costume to the library too, 'cause I want to see them! Now I just need to practice my magic words. Abracadabra, Abracazoom! Until next time,

Hey Kids!Wow! I've already had lots of friends voice their opinions on my poll for what I should be for Halloween. Have I heard from you yet? Don't forget you have until next Monday, September 28th to cast your vote, either here on the website or in the Children's Library! I can't wait to tell you the results, so here's a teaser based on current results--you guys sure like Harry Potter! Will that hold true through next Monday? You'll have to wait until October to find out! What are you going to be for Halloween? If you need some ideas, there are lots of great books here at CPL to give you some ideas!!! Hey Kids!I need your help with something. See, my third favorite holiday (after Christmas and the First Day of Summer Reading) is coming up soon. It’s Halloween! But I can’t decide what to be. I have to decide soon, because I get to wear my costume for the whole month of October!! This is where you come in. You’ll see that I’ve posted a poll below on the web site. You can either vote for what you think I should be for Halloween there, or you can come into the Children’s Library and vote! Sorry, there’s no prize. The library pays me in cookies--that’s how I keep my nice round physique! But you’ll definitely see what costume was the favorite, 'cause that’s what I’ll be wearing come October! Of course, in order to make my costume in time, I’ll need all your votes by Monday, September 28th. Gotta have time to make that costume you know! Thanks soooo much for your help!

Hey Kids! There's a wonderful reason to celebrate this week. No, not just because it's Labor Day. The first week of September is National Waffle Week! I like to eat mine with honey. A friend of mine eats her's with peanut butter, chocolate chips and whipped cream. Some people like to top theirs with fruit. How do you like your waffles? Try some adventurous eating this week by having breakfast for dinner. Check out one of our Breakfast Cookbooks for ideas. Or read the book Everything on a Waffle as a family. And don't forget about waffle cones and waffle fries! There are plenty of ways to celebrate all week! Mmmmm, I'm hungry!

Some Pig!
You may have noticed our book display over the Children's CDs. Who knew there were so many great pig characters in Children's Literature?! Some of these characters have even made it to film, like Wilbur from Charlotte's Web, Babe the Gallant Pig, and, coming soon, Olivia! Don't forget those other "hams" on film, like Miss Piggy from the Muppet Show and Piggley from Jakers.

Hey Kids! It's hard to believe it's almost August already. This summer is really flying by! I'm having so much fun seeing all my friends at the library. I'll be really sad when you all go back to school. I wanted to tell you about my new friend. He's in the fish tank and really small. He's a baby snail! Right now he is mostly wiggly, squiggily and shell-less, but if you keep watching, he will grow his own new shell! He's pretty cool. Even though it doesn't look like they do much, snails are very interesting animals. If you're curious to find out more, there are lots of books about Snails here at the library! While you're at the fish tank, don't forget to wave to Nemo also. I don't want him to get jealous of Baby Snail's attention! Until next time, Bear Hugs!

Caution! Big Trucks (and other vehicles) ahead!
While their parents may cringe at the sight of the orange and white striped construction barrels, little tykes get excited knowing this is their chance to see their favorite big trucks up close. For a chance to see the big rigs up close without the hassle of stop and go traffic, head to bookshelf 13 in the Children's Library. There in the J620's you'll find trucks of all kinds, a

Mosquito Free Summer Camp
Mr. Troop Mom recently premiered on Nickelodeon, and now you can check it out here at the library! George Lopez is a widower who volunteers to chaperone his daughter's scout troop's camping trip. Hillarity inevitability ensues. Of course, this is not the first film that is set at camp. The Jonas Brothers went to Camp Rock last summer. Way back in 1969, Charlie Brown visits camp in It Was A Short Summer, Charlie Brown.

Based on the Book
Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Inkheart, Spiderwick Chronicles. Most people know that these recent movies are based on books. But Children's novels have been providing sources for movies for many years.
