Attention Sherlock Holmes Fans!

Sherlock Holmes fans… check this out! The Adventure of the Dancing Men by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is now available as a kids graphic novel. Currently this item can be found on the Children's New Book Shelf. If they are all out, be sure to put a hold on it so that you can dash along with our detective hero. Have fun solving the crime along with everyone's favorite detective Sherlock Holmes and his always faithful side-kick, Dr. Watson. Enjoy!

Third Grade Book Group

Just a reminder — registration for the Third Grade Book Group starts Wednesday, September 8, 2010. The book group is open to kids in the Third Grade and will meet on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 5:00-5:45PM. This month we will be reading Marvin Redpost: Kidnapped at Birth? After you register, be sure to stop by the Children's Reference Desk to pick up a copy of the book. See you there!

Swimming with the Goldfish

goldfish bowlHey kids! Do you love pretending to be different animals? How about a goldfish? Well, starting Thursday, September 2, 2010, you can register for the Swimming with the Goldfish program. The program is open to kids ages 3 years- to 5 years-old with a caregiver. Swimming with the Goldfish will happen on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 7:00 to 7:45 p.m. See you there!

It's official… football pre-season is upon us. The Detroit Lions have come roaring out of the gate this past weekend with a win over the Cleveland Browns. Hey kids! Are feeling creative on a rainy afternoon? If so, check out Mr. Picassohead! This great website gives you the chance to create your very own piece of abstract art just like Pablo Picasso did. Have fun choosing faces, features, colors, and sizes for your creation then either print him out or email him to yourself. Maybe we'll see your creation in the museum someday!

Dearborn Library Foundation Hosting Author Mark Crilley

A Children’s Author Luncheon, hosted by the Dearborn Public Library Foundation is being held Saturday, August 21, featuring award winning Michigan author and illustrator Mark Crilley. Crilley is the author of more than 20 children’s books including the popular Akiko series. His work has been honored by the American Library Association and featured in entertainment Weekly, USA Today and CNN Headline News.
The luncheon starts at 12 Noon at Park Place Banquet Hall, 23400 Park Street, Dearborn, 48124. The cost for the luncheon, featuring separate menus for children and adults, and the presentation by the author is $20 for children 12 and under, and $25 for adults. Birdfeeder Program

Hey friends! If you are in Kindergarten to 2nd grade, register on or after Thursday, July 8th for our Birdfeeder program being held on Thursday, July 22nd from 11:00 to 11:45AM.
