High School Arts Wanted for MLK Competition
CANTON, MI-- Calling all high school artists! Your creativity could win you cash in the Canton Public Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. art competition. Submit your expression of the theme is “One Community. One Voice.” as it relates to Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Canton community in art form by December 23 and you could win $200.
Students may submit paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer generated art or photography. All work must be original in concept, design and execution and the student’s own work. The contest is open to high school students, grades 9-12. Students who are Canton residents or attend a public or private school located in Canton or within the boundaries of the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools district are eligible to enter.
Cash prizes, donated by the Friends of the Canton Public Library, in the amount of $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for honorable mention, will be awarded. All submissions will be displayed at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration at the Village Theater on January 19, 2009.
