A Ball For Daisy, written and illustrated by Chris Raschka, has been awarded the 2012 Caldecott Medal. This wordless picture book tells the story of a spirited dog named Daisy and her beloved red ball. Through a turn of events, she gains a brand-new friend and realizes there can be more than one way to have fun. The brightly colored, expressive illustrations make this story an entertaining read for kids and adults alike.

Infants and Sleep

National Children's Dental Health Month

In conjunction with Canton Township’s 100 Days to Health, staff from the Village Dentist will come to celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month. Listen to stories and learn about keeping your teeth healthy. For ages 3 and up with a caregiver.

Elephant and Piggie

Do you love the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems? Always looking to get your hands on another one of their adventures? Now we've made it a lot easier to find them on the shelf! The library recently purchased several additional copies of this funny, award-winning series. You can find them all in the Readers section in the Children's Department. Happy reading!

Baby Storytime

Designed for babies up to 18 months, these storytimes feature simple stories, songs and fingerplays. Register online beginning January 3.

Simms Taback (1932-2011)

Simms Taback, award-winning author and illustrator of the picture books Joseph Had A Little Overcoat and There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly, passed away December 25, 2011. Check out Simms Taback's official website for a complete listing of his works. Also find a list of Taback's titles owned by the library.

Story and Cocoa

Kids, ages 5-8, come to this program where we'll share a longer picture book, enjoy some hot cocoa and make a wintery craft. Register online beginning December 5.

Put on your costume and join CPL staff at the Canton Farmers Market on Sunday, October 16th for a Halloween story and craft. The Farmers Market is open from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM; stories will be read at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. For all ages.
