Michigan Reads! Books for Kids

Every year, the Library of Michigan selects a special book for its 'Michigan Reads! One State, One Children's Book' program. 'My Mitten' Kids Craft Day

K-5th Graders: Join us on Tuesday, August 6th from 2:00-3:00 PM in the Purple Room for a special Michigan-themed craft day! There will be a variety of Michigan crafts to choose from that celebrate many of the great things, from birds to lighthouses, that our state has to offer.

Made in Detroit Movie Night

To coincide with the 312th anniversary of the founding of Detroit, the library will be screening the 2012 documentary, Detropia, on Wednesday, July 24 at 7:00 PM in the Purple Room. The documentary, nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, focuses on Detroit's economic decline and its impact on the city and its residents. Join us on July 24 for Detroit-made refreshments and an eye-opening look at the city of Detroit.

Storytime at Canton Farmer's Market

Canton Farmers MarketThis summer, CPL staff will once again be visiting our local Canton Farmers Market to host special storytime and craft sessions. The farmers market is open from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, and storytimes will take place at 10:30 AM and noon. We hope to see you there on the following dates (all ages welcome):

2nd-5th Graders: Join us Tuesday, April 16th from 7:00-8:00 PM in the Purple Room to celebrate the start of Earth Week 2013 by building your own plant terrarium out of recycled materials.  Plant yummy herbs and/or beautiful flowers in a portable garden that you can take home, and enjoy a dirt-tastic dessert! 

Lego Ninjago Party

Calling all Lego Ninjago fans ages 6-10!  Join us Friday, April 5th from 2:00-3:00 PM in the Community Room for a special 'Masters of Spinjitzu' program filled with ninja crafts, games, and special treats.  Registration is limited to the first 30 kids, so use your super ninja stealth and sign up today!
