NEW Gale Courses Begin January 21

Make a resolution to learn something new in the new year!  Gale Courses can teach you about accounting, sign language, career skills and more!

Gale has added new courses to its catalog!  The Canton Public Library offers free Gale Courses to its cardholders, and the next set of classes is will begin on Wednesday, January 21. Learn on your own schedule, and receive a certificate of completion when you've finished. Our goal is to provide lifelong educational opportunities for you to gain new skills or improve existing ones. New Language Learning Resource: Pronunciator

Start the New Year with a new language!

The Canton Public Library is adding to its language learning databases with Pronunciator. Choose from any of 80 languages, with 22 months of guided instruction for each language. You can even get feedback on your pronunciation! Pronunciator also offers ESL programs for speakers of Hindi, Spanish, Telugu, Chinese, and many other languages.

Your Tablet, Your Library - Download Music, Movies and More!

Movies and music and books, oh my! Now that the holidays are over but it's still quite cold outside, it's time to snuggle up with your tablet or smart phone and enjoy downloadable and streaming library services; from Zinio's digital magazine downloads to Hoopla, which offers streaming movies, music and more!

Join us Saturday January 17 at 1:00 PM to take a tour through our Library's emedia services, taking a close look at options for streaming and downloading movies, TV, music, ebooks and eaudiobooks.

Computer Skills Lab for Beginners - January 10

If you or someone you know needs assistance with basic computer skills, including Internet use and setting up an email account, please stop in to CPL's iLab between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10th for our drop-in skills lab. We will have guided activities for practice with mouse skills, copying/pasting, and more.  A librarian will be on hand to answer any questions you may have or direct you to activities and tutorials to help build basic computer skills.

*This lab is restricted to basic computer skills, as listed above. Staff will not be able to assist with the diagnosis or repair of computer equipment, or with online financial transactions.
